Twitch Fortnite Gamer

Science-and entertainment-focused publisher Inverse is the latest to jump on Twitch, the live streaming service owned by Amazon. Though viewership for Fortnite had been on a bit of a decline following the World Cup in July, it seemed as though any popular streamer could boost their viewership simply by watching the ominous black hole that was Fortnite until early morning on Tuesday.
Indeed, if we use average concurrent viewers as our measure, we can see that Mixer lags some distance behind both YouTube Gaming Live (with stats for the latter measured only from 2019, as YouTube game streaming was brought back into the main app) and Twitch, with a mere 38,000 average concurrent viewers as of Q4 2019.

Twitch Partners are prominent Twitch broadcasters, who can earn a share of Twitch revenue through subscriptions to their channels (available for $4.99, $9.99, or $24.99; or through Twitch Prime), ‘Bits' (a virtual currency passed from viewers to broadcasters), and ads played on their the channel (the frequency of which they can determine through their dashboard).
It would be wrong to suggest that viewership of Fortnite on Twitch wasn't at least slightly skewed by the simple fact that many individuals who might otherwise be playing Fortnite were instead watching Twitch to see when Fortnite would be playable again.

The early days of the coronavirus pandemic (the time of writing) saw an influx of viewers to Twitch, with average concurrent viewers increasing 12% year-on-year in March (as of midway through the month)- the biggest year-on-year increase since August 2019.
The Twitter user who recorded and posted the clip confirmed to CBC News he reported the incident to CrimeStoppers, and said he was in contact with a partnered streamer at Twitch who reported the video and was told by Twitch that the account had been permanently banned.

Ninja's long list of achievements includes becoming the first professional video game player featured on the cover of ESPN the Magazine, helping drop the ball in Times Square on New Year's Eve, guest starring in a Super Bowl commercial, and becoming the first streamer on Twitch to reach 10 million followers.
Twitchtracker also reports that average number of hours watched per month on Twitch in the first half of 2018 has been 726,792,858 This is a sizeable increase from 2017's full-year average of 493,000,000, which in turn exceeded all previous years' watching: 406,000,000 in 2016, 333,000,000 in 2015, 267,000,000 in 2014, 200,000,000 in 2013, and 100,000,000 in 2012.

Talk Hearthstone strategy with fellow gamers or content yourself with live streaming art demos in silence. There are tons of charity streams and millions of dollars are raised each year, by all streamers, toward charities. The developer also gave some of the influencers beta invites to give away to viewers, so it is probably not too surprising that it attracted so many people wanting to not only get a glimpse of the gameplay but also have a chance to get in on it.
